01 - 33 King and the Clown

I'll give this post some preamble because you probably haven't seen it, unless you're Korean if you live stateside. And may I just add it would cool if one of the people who watches this post actually lived in Korea. Anyway. I recently had the opportunity to see this great film at the Portland International Film Festival and I adored it. The film focuses on two street performers, or clowns, the grungy but headstrong Jang-sang and the beautiful and sexually ambiguous Gong-gil, who head to Seoul in 1500s Korea to make a living at what they do best. Their acts are fairly risque as they mock the king, and end up being brought to the palace under pain of death unless they can manage to make the king laugh.

Whoever loves Asian cinema as much as I do will probably enjoy this film, but as of now I don't think the film has an American release date. However, I did just pick up a region-free version of the film from Amazon and I am dying to see it arrive. The film is a surprising mixture of humor and tragedy, something so enjoyable to watch that I can't help but love it.

I just saw this movie not too long ago. It's officially one of my favorites. And I heard that it will be released in America at the end of the year.

The icons look great, BTW. I'll be sure to credit ^^

Do you have the orig. for 16-18 and can I beg it off of you pretty pretty please? I've been wanting to paint something from that forest ride for, um, forever but there's never a HQ one :(
